Employment and Professional Disciplinary
Team Leader: Liz Cunningham
Albion Chambers offers a large specialised team dealing with this exciting and rapidly changing area of law.
We offer experience in a full range of advisory and advocacy services. Our work includes individual and group employment law and involves disputes concerning discrimination and human rights.
Representing employers and employees alike, we have a broad client base of local authorities, private clients, trades union and insurers.
Albion Chambers has a reputation for its members’ accessibility, empathy and approachability and the high standards of its service: the Employment Team is no exception.
Chambers can also offer representation in a broad range of disciplinary tribunals. Team members have experience of tribunals which have dealt with disciplinary issues in respect of police officers, members of the fire services, nurses, CAFCASS Officers, midwives, and other professionals (e.g. before The Bar Standards Board). Some have also represented private and public sector employees at internal, non-regulated disciplinary and appeal hearings which can, of course, be accepted under our direct Public Access Scheme.
We have two employment clerks; Michael Harding, who has over twenty years’ experience, and Julie Hathway, who joined us after a long career in the Court Service. Michael and Julie are always happy to discuss and recommend the most suitable member of the team for each individual case.
Continuity of representation is important for all of us and we make every effort to avoid changes of counsel. When changes are necessary the clerks will always endeavour to allocate alternative counsel to provide a consistent level of representation.
Continuing education, internal and external, is important to chambers. Albion Chambers is accredited by the Solicitors Regulation Authority to provide external training; we run regular programmes of seminars together with frequent in-house training sessions. Please contact our Chambers Director, Paul Fletcher for further information.
