David Chidgey’s practice encompasses:

David is recognised for his ability to identify the key points in a case and to offer practical advice and persuasive advocacy.

His substantial advocacy experience, and his background in contested criminal cases contribute to him being an effective cross-examiner and negotiator.

In 2008 David obtained a Masters in Business Administration with distinction. During his studies he undertook modules in business planning, investment strategies and managerial accountancy. He has a particular interest in cases with complex financial aspects.

Matrimonial/Non Matrimonial Finance:

  • Applications for financial remedies: claimants, respondents and interveners.
  • Applications under The Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996. (Proprietary interests between cohabitees and unmarried couples).
  • Applications under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975.

Employment:
Work undertaken for both applicants and respondents in the following areas: unfair dismissal, TUPE and redundancy, sex, race and disability discrimination, claims for breach of contract and wrongful dismissal.

Recent cases include:
W v. I – Unfair dismissal, third party pressure

H v. S – Redundancy due to decline in area of work

T v. I – Redundancy on failure to win a tender

X v. Y – unfair dismissal, the definition of “self-employment”

Publications:
Author of section regarding the forfeiture of detained money under The Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 in “Jordan’s Magistrates’ Courts Criminal Practice”.
